Kenya Prisons men’s volleyball team
and their General Service Unit (GSU) counterparts have already booked their
places in the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) national play-offs to be staged
in Nairobi in November.
Prisons cemented their position at
the summit with a comfortable win over Mount Kenya University (MKU) at the
seventh leg of the league played in Homa Bay on Friday.
Meanwhile, Kenya Pipeline dislodged
Prisons women from the top having beaten Nairobi Water in their only match.
GSU too kept the pressure on the
leaders after winning their two matches against Finlays and Mombasa Prisons to
confirm their place at the play-offs with one leg of the league still
remaining.
GSU came from a set down to beat a
hard fighting Finlays 3-1 (25-27, 25-16,2 5-22 and 25-15) while Kenya Defence
Forces (Ulinzi) who are third got all the three points against Forest Rangers
with a 3-0 (25-19, 33-30 and 25-16) win. Finlays, however, recovered to beat
Naivasha-based Oserian 3-2 (25-22, 17-25, 19-25, 25-16 and 15-11).
Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) which
was missing the services of right attacker, James Ontere who has signed for a
Japanese club extended Oserian’s bad outing in the lakeside town with a 3-0
(25-18, 26-24 and 25-21) thrashing of the flowermen.
Pipeline also secured a 3-0 (25-12,
25-16,25-11) win over Nairobi Water with Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) surprising
KDF with a 3-1 (25-19,25-19,24-26,25-16) victory.
