Leading retailer Nakumatt
has ordered the removal of Bamba TV from its shelves citing numerous customer
complaints and returns.
In a letter to all
Nakumatt managers, Operations Coordinator Wilfred Kimani ordered the withdrawal
of the decoders saying they did not meet the correct voltage requirements.
"There has been
several and numerous customer complaints on Bamba...because their decoder has a
voltage of 5 instead of 12," Kimani says in the letter.
"Am therefore urging
all to withdraw these decoders from the Shelves with immediate effect. Radio
Africa will pick them up and replace with those that [sic] has Voltage of
12."
The letter which was
leaked to bloggers from one of the Nakumatt outlets also advised managers to
tell customers who wished to buy the decoders that they were currently not
being sold as they were being upgraded.
Bamba TV is the third
digital platform in the country after market leader GOtv and Startimes.
Marketing Manager Caroline Mutoko who has been pushing the brand
