Nestlé has appointed Ciru Miring’u to head the company’s operations in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi and South Sudan.

Ciru becomes the first local manager to head the East African cluster of the Swiss based Nutrition, Health and Wellness Company.

Cornel Krummenacher, the Chief Executive Officer, Nestlé Equatorial African Region, said Ciru’s appointment is part of its investment in local talent. “This is also in line with our gender agenda to have more women in leadership,” said Mr. Krummenacher.

Ciru joins Nestlé with over 15 years’ experience in Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) within sales, marketing and general management, most recently with Glaxo Smith Kline (GSK), Consumer Healthcare division.

Mr. Krummenacher said Ms. Ciru was most suited for the position as she has served in almost a similar capacity in the East African region at GSK.

Ciru holds a BSc in Biochemistry and Zoology from University of Nairobi and a Master of Business Administration (MBA), marketing from the United States International University.

She takes over from Svetlana Obruchkova, the latter who has been the Managing Director of Nestlé Kenya for the last 2-years.
