Britam has announced the departure of its asset management
subsidiary’s
Managing Director Mr Edwin Dande. The firm said Mr Dande is leaving to pursue
personal interests.
Mr Dande joined the Group in 2011 and as the Managing Director of
the Asset Management Company, has overseen the business grow significantly in
terms of revenue, profitability, Assets Under Management (AUM), products and
market share.
Britam Group Managing Director Dr. Benson Wairegi said: "Mr. Dande has
laid a strong foundation on which the company will continue to grow and prosper,”
Mr Dande is a graduate of
the Wharton Business School with 15 years’ experience in financial services,
gained both locally and internationally.
“Edwin was a dedicated and committed member of the management team
at Britam and played a key role in expanding our vision of being a leading
brand in the region. We wish him success in his future endeavors,”
said Dr. Wairegi in a statement.
Under the stewardship of Mr. Dande, Britam’s asset management
business registered remarkable growth to become the largest fund manager by
revenue in the region, with assets under management growing from Kshs.17
billion to Kshs.50 billion.
“It has been a great honour to work for Britam and I have gained
invaluable experience which has shaped me into the person I am today in this
market. Britam is a strong brand with a rich heritage and history in this
region and is deeply committed to providing innovative financial services in
the region,” said Mr. Dande.
Dr. Wairegi assured the clients that a strong team of highly
qualified and experienced professionals will continue to provide excellent
services to them. Mr. Jude Anyiko, a Chartered
Financial Analyst (CFA), and a Senior Portfolio Manager at Britam Group has
been appointed acting CEO.
