City Stars draw derailed title fight, says Kimanzi

Tusker FC left back Aboud Omar believes their title chances suffered a major blow after they were held to a barren draw by Nairobi City Stars in mid -September.

That was their fourth consecutive stalemate before losing the following match against Ulinzi Stars in Nakuru. 

“That draw against City Stars was really painful because we had a chance of cutting the lead at the top. That is where we lost the fight and morale to challenge for the title,” said Omar.

His sentiments were echoed by coach Francis Kimanzi. “We lost important points along the way, in matches that we should have had better,” Kimanzi said. 

Meanwhile, Bandari has lined up former Harambee Stars assistant coach Ken Odhiambo to replace Twahir Muhiddin.

Odhiambo who arrived at the coastal club in mid season to assist Twahir Muhiddin is said to be in line to take over with the Bandari management mulling on whether to terminate the latter’s contract.

Bandari secretary Ben Oloo told KPL’s official website they have been worried by the club’s form this season, lying 13th on he 16-team log for a team that finished sixth last term.

“We have spoken with him (Muhiddin) about it and in the meantime, we are evaluating assistant coach Ken Odhiambo to see if he can relate better with the players” Oloo said.
