The forthcoming second Edition of the First Lady’s Half Marathon has been boosted when two organization presented cheques worth Kshs 15m.

The second edition of the First Lady’s Half Marathon will be held on 8th March this year.
The Cooperative Bank of Kenya and Danone Baby Nutrition presented cheques of KES 12 mn and KES 3 mn respectively.

Cooperative bank Managing Director Gideon Muriuki said the bank is committed to supporting the Mrs. Kenyatta in her efforts to improve child and maternal health care in Kenya.

In addition to the Kshs 3m, Danone Baby Nutrition donated respiratory equipment plus baby pampers towards the ‘Beyond Zero’ campaign.

“We have come to give you moral support. We were with you last year and we are here again to support the First Lady’s Half Marathon,” said Dr. Muriuki.

He said the bank would continue to support the First Lady in her noble initiative, terming it “a humbling experience.”

The Danone Baby Nutrition Country Manager Ms. Rachel Kanoti said her organization had really been challenged by Mrs. Kenyatta in her work to improve child and maternal healthcare in the country.

The respiratory equipment donated by Danone Baby Nutrition can be operated without using electricity and it is usually used to help babies who have breathing problems.

First Lady Margaret Kenyatta thanked Kenyans for their continued support for better healthcare for new born babies and their mothers, noting that there has been a very positive feedback from the counties which have already received the Beyond Zero Fully kitted mobile clinics.

So far 18 ‘Beyond Zero’ mobile clinics have already been delivered to counties with the highest maternal, child mortality and HIV burden in the country.

She commended the two organizations for the generosity saying it is amazing to see how people can achieve noble and greater purposes once they unite for a worthy cause in life.
